A pioneer of the revival of classical guitar and contemporary creation, Liat Cohen gave her first recitals at the age of 14.
Nicknamed "The Princess of Classical Guitar" (La Critique), her playing is passionate, sensual, delicate, inventive, and virtuosic.
First Prize winner at the Paris Conservatory, graduate of the Schola Cantorum and the École Normale de Musique de Paris, Liat Cohen is the first guitarist to receive the Nadia Boulanger – Fondation de France Prize. She has also won numerous international competitions, including those in Rome, Paris, and Tel Aviv.
Recognized among the world’s best guitarists by Guitare Magazine and Classical Guitar, Liat Cohen is: "a true virtuoso guitarist continuing the great tradition established by the legendary Andrés Segovia, transforming the guitar from an intimate instrument into a solo instrument, making her mark in the great concert halls" while preserving its delicate and warm nuances. Liat Cohen performs on all five continents; she collaborates with top chefs and the greatest orchestras and ensembles: Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra, National Orchestra of Lorraine, Bern Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, Talich Chamber Orchestra, Prazak Quartet, Zemlinsky Quartet... Liat Cohen has played on the biggest stages: Rudolfinum in Prague, Radio-France Auditorium, Théâtre du Châtelet - Paris, Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Palazzo Barberini in Rome, Salle Cortot (Paris), National Theater of Costa Rica, Opera of Montpellier, Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, Jerusalem Theater... Muse and musician, Liat Cohen explores and transcends the guitar repertoire, from Bach to South American music. Her new artistic project called 'The Sun Child' is dedicated to poetry, painting, and music; this project is based on poems by her daughter Bar read by Brigitte Fossey..
