The Wiener Kammer Symphonie Quintet (WKS) is a classical music ensemble composed of highly talented musicians performing in Vienna. The group brings to its audiences a vast musical repertoire from classics of XIXth century to contemporary compositions, often performing rare of forgotten composers. Members now perform with french pianist Didier Castell-Jacomin.
The WKS was founded in 2006 « Year of Mozart » and made its outstandingly successful debut with a series of concerts in Spain which was acclaimed by both public and critics as the best performers of a season entirely dedicated to Mozart.
Later on, the WKS realised a series of projects dedicated to composers of the Mozart times. They have also performed at the Umbria Music Festival with a crossover project fusing the pure Viennese classic style with hip-hop dance. This project was also performed at the prestigious Vienna Musikverein and led to invitations to play at numerous international festivals including the Ankara Festival and many Italian concert halls and festival in Bari, Ravello Festival, Alba Music Festival, Side Music Festival in Turkey. WKS has also played in South America (Brazil, Argentina and Colombia) and Istanbul (Turkey).
Future performances include Beethoven and Haydn Symphonies in an arrangement for string quintet in Denmark and Turkey with Beethoven 7th Symphony, and a special Mozart project in Spain.
The WKS performs as a string quintet following similar musical and artistic components of a chamber orchestra with a “symphonical” concept. Upcoming appointments include an unique version of the Beethoven’s fifth Symphony iarrang. for string quintet) in Spain, concerts in Italy in Torino and Alba, Northern Europe (Sweden and Schubert Festival in Copenhaghen), England and Poland (Polnish Music Festival Kraków) and a complete Swiss-tour.
It is now with the French pianist Didier Castell-Jacomin that plays the WKS.
Disciple of Catherine Collard, Georgy Cziffra and Fausto Zadra, himself a disciple of Vincenzo Scaramuzza, Didier Castell-Jacomin is a renowned performer who has already played on the major stages. A voluntary exile from France, Didier Castell-Jacomin is pursuing a remarkable international career envied by many of his colleagues. His debuts at the Berlin Philharmonie, hailed by the public and critics, allowed him to subsequently perform at Concergebouw Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall New York and many American festivals as well as in London, Brussels and in Spain. In Germany, Didier Castell-Jacomin has played with the Baden Baden Philharmonie, in Switzerland at the New Year Festival in Gstaadt and in France Salle Cortot and at Théâtre de l'Athénée. Norman Lebrecht, usually ferocious, saw in him: "A sparkling pianist" and Paul Badura-Skoda, after they played together, stated that he was "A true mozartian".
The extensive discography of Didier Castell-Jacomin includes works by Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann. Her last opus is devoted to women composers (Chaminade, Bonis, Clara Schumann ...). His recordings have been acclaimed by critics (4 Diapason, Piano Maestro ...).
The collaboration of Didier Castell-Jacomin and the Wiener Kammer Symphony Quintet looks promising with a series of Mozart concerts in the Netherlands followed by a recording in April 2018.
